Seven studio classics. Reimagined. Free for everyone.
Our own processors, inspired by the families of gear that made records sound like records, then given the controls engineers always wished those classics had. They're free on every plan, and they don't count towards Free's five signatures.
The line-up
Lumiq
Inspired by 1960s optical levellers
The smooth, singing levelling they're loved for, plus the Attack control optical cells never had, Memory to set how much the release remembers what came before, and Tube drive.
Fettle
Inspired by 1960s FET peak limiters
Fast and aggressive, with Smash: glide continuously from a clean 4:1 into the all-in sound, instead of pressing four buttons. Bite sets how hard the detector distorts.
Mortar
Inspired by console VCA bus compressors
The glue on a mix bus, with a continuous Ratio and Attack, and Punch: let the transients through while the density stays held.
Mutone
Inspired by 1950s variable-mu tube limiters
Big, warm valve limiting whose ratio rises with level. Bias sets how fast it starts to bite, Colour how hard the tubes are pushed, and Time is continuous.
Ferrum
Inspired by 1970s class-A console channels
Weight and colour from Heat (the class-A drive) and Iron (the transformers), with the channel's high, mid and low EQ and high-pass.
Plush
Inspired by 1950s passive tube program EQs
Silky top and deep bottom, with Trick: the famous low-end boost-and-cut on one knob, an Air band above it all, and tube Drive.
Spoolhaus
Inspired by 2-inch multitrack tape
Saturation and head bump that move with a continuous Speed and Bias, plus separate Bump and Saturation. No wow or flutter, so it stays in time.
And on every one
The plugin's Move and Space controls
Morph between two settings, Motion to let the music push it, mid/side, Split Blend and Level match. A sidechain input is on the way.
Chain them. Share them.
Put Originals in a chain with members' hardware, save it with your settings, and share it with everyone, or with one engineer in a session. Because the Originals are free for everyone, anyone can open your chain and hear it as you made it.
DigMusiK Originals are our own designs, described by the families of equipment that inspired them. They aren't copies of any manufacturer's product and aren't connected with any manufacturer. Each one is checked against published measurements before it goes live, and shows its measured accuracy. Trademark notice.
